I am a mixed medium artist; however, I am comfortable creating in any of the singular mediums such as drawing, painting, or sculpture. My works are noted for having strong social or political commentary, layered with textual experimentations. I am a people person whose compositions usually features the human form or their spirits. I attempt to present my subjects regardless of their social status as having inner strength or pathos. My works create a story using images of ordinary people on a heroic scale.
The genesis of any work often begins with a spark, and I distinctly remember an awakening experience in grade school. My class was ushered into the library to watch a film. The genesis of any work often begins with a spark, and I distinctly remember an awakening experience in grade school. My class was ushered into the library to watch a film. As an artist, you often ask yourself why do I take the perspective view that I have? The genesis prompting for me were images I saw in that film as a youngster. I experienced human emotions and social issues that would serve as a harmonious blend of inspiration well beyond childhood into this point of my life.
"Imitation of Life", introduced me to a world of contradiction, bias and contempt. Reflecting on the film, I continually pondered: " Why would a light-skinned girl deny her dark-skinned mother? There is an underlined bigotry in America that reinvents itself. So, it is necessary to create an-in your face proactive prospective addressing the issues of today. Art, after all, is a continuous journey of growth and evolution. I grew up as an introvert and only child. Although I had five brothers and a sister, I was adopted and grew up with no sibling support. As a loner, I stood on the sideline and observed life. From this vantage point, I dedicate significant time and experimentation to various techniques and mediums. This hands-on exploration allows me to push the boundaries between two - dimensional collaborations I refer to as ( pop - out realism). My efforts are unconventional, and I have established myself as a mixed medium artist. My images confront contempt using shapes, color and texture to invoke dialogue.
I admired Malcom X because he knew the power of impact statements to serve as a tool to evoke a reaction for change. With my work I try to explain the riveting question of Maya Angelou's "Why the Black Bird Sings", it's the paramount way to tell our story!

This composition was inspired by lyrics of a song written by Billie Holiday, “Strange Fruit”. During and after Reconstruction, the Ku Klux Klan, and common white citizens adopted lynching as a means of terrorizing the Black population.
